Thinking about adding a legal suite to your property?
On May 2, 2024 the Province of BC announced a grant program with forgivable loans for homeowners adding a secondary suite for long term rental. Read the media release.
Have a look at the Geographical Information Services (GIS) map and search by address to see what the zoning designation is on your property, and then see the District's Zoning Bylaw to see if you can have a legal suite.
The District has also published a bulletin on legal suites [PDF/386KB] in Lake Country, following Council's Secondary and Accessory Suite Policy [PDF/17KB].
To apply for a legal suite, please fill out the District's building permit application form and submit it at the Municipal Hall.
