Climate Action

The BC Government's Local Government Climate Action Program (LGCAP), launched in 2022, aims to provide predictable, long-term funding for local governments and Modern Treaty Nations to plan and implement climate action that will reduce emissions, create new opportunities for people in the clean economy and prepare communities for future climate impacts. As part of the program, recipients of funding will be required to report on their actions.

CARIP Reports

The Province's Climate Action Revenue Incentive Program (CARIP), which ended in 2021, was a conditional grant program that provided funding to local governments that have signed the B.C. Climate Action Charter to reimburse what they have paid each year in carbon taxes. Municipalities were required to report their greenhouse gas emissions profile. The program reporting requirements were suspended during COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
