Delegations:
- Rob de Pruis - National Director, Consumer & Industry Relations from the Insurance Bureau of Canada gave Council a presentation that covered severe weather trends, insurance premiums.
- Sgt Jon Collins – Lake Country RCMP presented Council with a quarterly update presentation.
Council adopted Zoning Amendment (Fencing Requirements) Bylaw 1211, 2023.
Public Comment:
Al Gatzke addressed Council regarding the upcoming BC Water Use Calculators — Agriculture & Landscape meeting organized by the Lake Country Farmers Institute that will be held on February 23rd beginning at 9:00am.
Council approved the construction of a Telus Communications wireless communications tower at 15474 Barkley Road provided it is constructed in accordance with the plans submitted.
Council did not support a non-adhering residential use application for a single-family dwelling to support farm operations at 15544 Old Mission Road. The application will be sent to the Agriculture Land Commission for final approval.
Council supported a non-adhering residential use application at 1890 Goldie Road to allow temporary farm worker housing for up to six workers. The application will be sent to the Agricultural Land Commission for final approval.
UBCM Local Government Development Approvals Program – Grant Application:
Council endorsed a 2024 grant application to UBCM that will support hiring a consultant to review current development processes.
SILGA Resolutions:
Council discussed and passed three resolutions that will be submitted for consideration at the upcoming Southern Interior Local Government Association. Refer to Council Minutes for a full list of resolutions.
