Wildfire-prevention partnership formed to protect water supply

"It has been a long-term goal for Lake Country to be able to protect the North Aberdeen Plateau, which is a primary water source for Lake Country and surrounding areas” says Mayor Ireland. “Through collaboration with the Regional District of North Okanagan and a strong partnership with the Okanagan Indian Band, we are now on a path to realize that goal. We are grateful the province has recognized the hard work the group has done to build the plan and have provided the necessary funds to get this important project started immediately. Wildfire mitigation is the first and most urgent part of the equation and along with that work will be planning for how our group manages our watershed and primary water source for the future.”
