Council Procedures Bylaw

Council adopted Procedures Bylaw 1229, 2024. The revised procedures will assist with making Council meetings more streamlined and efficient. Changes will go into effect beginning July 2nd.

Purpose Built Rental Housing Incentive

Council adopted Purpose-Built Rental Housing Incentive Bylaw 1232, 2024. The tax exemption incentive will assist builders taking on rental housing projects in Lake Country.

Zoning Amendment

Council gave three readings to Zoning Amendment Bylaw 1238, 2024. The amendments are to comply with Bill 44 for small-scale, multi-unit housing. Bill 44 requires local governments to update zoning bylaws to permit at least one secondary suite or accessory dwelling unit in zones limited to single-family housing and 3-4 units in restricted zones within the Urban Containment Boundary (UCB) that are connected to municipal water and sewer with lot sizes of 4,050 m² or less.

Development Approval Procedures Update

Council gave three reading to Development Approval Procedures Bylaw 1227, 2024. Council recently considered amendments to the Official Community Plan, Subdivision and Development Servicing Bylaw, Building Regulation Bylaw and Council Procedures Bylaw with the goal of streamlining and simplifying development processes and meeting the provincial requirements related to the Small-Scale Muti-Unit Housing. The updates to the Development Approval Procedures align with recent bylaw amendments.

2024 Grant-in-Aid

Council approved the following additional grant-in-aid for 2024:

  • Lake Country Community Fridge in the amount of $2,000 to assist with ongoing costs including food, structure needs and maintenance.
  • Lake Country Judo and Martial Arts in the amount of $999 to support athletes that attended the BC Provincial Judo Championships from April 5 – 7, 2024.

UBCM Grant Application

Council supported the Regional District Central Okanagan (RDCO) Regional Emergency Program as the primary applicant for the UBCM grant. If successful, the funding would be used to support the RDCO Emergency Operations Centre staff training and RDCO Emergency Operations Centre equipment.

Annual Report

Council approved the 2023 Annual Report.

Financial Information Act

Council approved the 2023 Schedules Financial statements.

Road Closure Application

Council gave three readings to the road closure and sale of the lane that fronts 14850 Oyama Road. In conjunction with the road closure, the owners of 14850 Oyama Road will provide the District with a Statutory Right of Way over the closed road in addition to the purchase price of $23,083.20.
