District crews and our contractor clear roads and sidewalks in Lake Country. During and after the snow falls, we'll be hard at work moving the snow from roads with plows and trucks, and we ask that vehicles are parked off the road to help us effectively plow the roads as quickly as possible. We are committed to maintaining roads in passible condition and prioritize routes as follows:
Main Roads
- Connections from local streets to Highway 97
- Most school bus and transit routes
- Steep roads
- Expect service to begin with snowfall
- Expect repeated service on these routes
Local Roads
- Flat neighbourhood roads
- Expect service within 24 hours of the end of a snowfall
Have a look at our Winter Maintenance Priority Map to better understand the level of service you can expect in your neighbourhood.
Important Reminders
- You are responsible for clearing your driveway access - push snow onto your property on the right side of your driveway as you face the road
- Snow cleared from the roads, then sidewalks, will be pushed to the "back of walk" which is the usual 1.5m right of way towards the private property side of the sidewalk or road allowance
- If you have extended your landscaping or irrigation system into the right of way (approx. 1.5m), you may want to install a reflective marker to help the snow plow operator to avoid it where possible
- Be careful where you park; leave room for the plows on narrow side roads
- Push snow onto your own property, not the road in front of your property
- Be careful where you put your garbage bins for pick up in the winter; keep them off roadways
- Help your neighbours in need!
