A Driveway Access Permit allows a private property to establish a safe and functional access point from which to enter and exit onto the District road (Highway).
A Driveway Access is the section of a private driveway governed by a Driveway Access Permit and is from the District’s road to the private property line.
This section cannot be at a slope (grade) greater than 5% and cannot meet the road at an angle greater or less than 70-110 degrees.
The section known as the Driveway is located on private property, from the property line and beyond. i.e. to the residence and is governed by the BC building code and the Building Regulation bylaw.
Be sure to consult with the Building department to determine the best Driveway layout for your property.
A Driveway Access Permit application is required prior to the construction of a new Driveway Access, modification of an existing Driveway Access or a change in use on the property that can potentially impact the safety, functional or operational aspects of an existing Driveway access.
