Construct in Right of Way

This free permit is required for contractors and property owners before they can work within, use, alter, or store materials in the District right of way. It ensures that all work on District roads is conducted safely and in compliance with the District's Highways Bylaw 1189, 2022 [PDF/475KB].

The application for this permit must be submitted at least 10 working days before beginning any work. If the work will disrupt traffic, a traffic control plan must accompany the application.

Locates are required before excavating. Please call BC ONE at 1-800-474-6886. Failure to do so will invalidate the permit. Confirming the location of underground infrastructure helps eliminate the risk of accidents caused by digging or excavation work striking buried facilities, such as pipelines, telecommunication cables, water and sewage lines, and electrical wires.
